The Coffee Break to Take After Walking Downtown Hollywood and the Murals

Colorful mural on a building in Downtown Hollywood, FL

Murals, ArtsPark & a roastery worth building into the walk.

A Neighborhood That Rewards Wandering

Downtown Hollywood has quietly become one of South Florida's better reasons to slow down and look up. The murals along Hollywood Boulevard and the surrounding streets aren't background decoration. They're full-scale works by serious artists, and if you're doing the neighborhood on foot, you'll cover more ground than you expect.

At some point during that walk, you're going to want coffee. Not a chain. Not something forgettable. Something that actually matches the moment. That's where Koffee Kult comes in.

Downtown Hollywood's art scene has been building for years. The murals stretch across building facades, parking structures & alley walls: some abstract, some hyper-detailed portraits, some that stop you mid-step. ArtsPark at Young Circle anchors the cultural energy with rotating installations and regular events, and the surrounding blocks have their own gallery spaces, studios & creative businesses filling in the gaps.

If you're coming in for an art walk, a mural tour, or just a Saturday afternoon with no real agenda, you'll find plenty to look at. What you won't always find is a coffee worth stopping for.

~5 min Drive from Young Circle
2012 Roasting in Hollywood, FL
In & Out Indoor and outdoor seating

Koffee Kult is about a five-minute drive from Young Circle, tucked in at 311 S 21st Ave. It's a working roastery, meaning the coffee you're drinking was roasted right there in Hollywood, Florida, not shipped in from a warehouse somewhere.

"Chain coffee serves a purpose. It's fast and familiar. It's just not the kind of cup that matches a good walk."

What to Order When You Walk In

If you've been outside for a while and want something cold, the Nitro Cold Brew is the move. It's slow-steeped for 24 hours at 34°F and poured on nitrogen: creamy, smooth & nothing like the cold coffee you'd get from a gas station cooler. No ice diluting it. Just a clean, bold cup with a finish that actually lingers.

If you want something warm and you're in the mood to sit down, the Cortado is worth ordering. It's espresso balanced with a small amount of steamed milk: strong without being aggressive, and a good way to taste what the roast actually is. Koffee Kult uses their Dark Roast blend for espresso in-store, a four-origin blend of Colombia, Guatemala, Brazil & Sumatra with caramel and cinnamon notes and a long finish.

For something in between, the Shakerato is underrated. Espresso shaken hard over ice until it's frothy and cold, it's the kind of drink you don't see on many menus, and it works especially well on a warm afternoon after you've been walking.

☕ Cortado

Espresso and steamed milk in balance. The clearest way to taste the Dark Roast blend.

🥤 Shakerato

Espresso shaken hard over ice. Frothy, cold & a little unexpected.

Take the Roast Home

One of the things that separates Koffee Kult from most coffee shops is that you can buy the beans on your way out. The retail section carries the full lineup: blends and single origins, whole bean, roasted in-house.

The Dark Roast is the flagship and the one most people gravitate toward. It's bold and smooth with real body, not the harsh, over-roasted edge that gives dark roasts a bad reputation. The Road Dog blend is another strong option if you like dark chocolate and brown sugar notes with a little earthiness underneath.

If you want something brighter, the Kenya AA single origin is worth grabbing. It has a complexity that's rare at this price point, with caramel, apple raisin & a wine-like finish from beans grown on volcanic soils at high elevation.

Buying a bag to bring home is one of those small decisions that extends a good afternoon. You had a great walk, you found a great cup, now you can make that same cup on Tuesday morning before work.

A Good Place to Sit After All That Walking

Koffee Kult has both indoor and outdoor seating, which matters when you've been on your feet. The outdoor space in particular is a good place to decompress: no rush, no background noise from a blender every thirty seconds, just a real cup of coffee and a few minutes to sit with it.

If you grabbed food at one of the downtown spots first, or you're planning to head back out, the Kult Breakfast Sandwich is a solid option: bacon, egg & cheese on toasted bread, simple and done well. The Monster Toast is bigger and worth it if you're actually hungry.

Good For
  • Resting between mural stops without feeling rushed
  • Tasting a roast made minutes from where you're standing
  • Grabbing beans on the way out for tomorrow's cup
Keep in Mind
  • It's a five-minute drive from Young Circle, not a walk-up stop on the mural route itself
  • Street parking near ArtsPark can fill up on weekends, plan the drive over accordingly

Before or After, It Works Either Way

Some people use Koffee Kult as the starting point. They pull in before the mural walk, order something to carry, and head downtown with a good cup in hand. Others come after, when the afternoon has wound down and they want somewhere to land.

Either way, it fits. Downtown Hollywood's art scene is worth the time, and Koffee Kult is the kind of coffee stop that doesn't feel like an afterthought.

Timing What to Order Why
Before the walk Cortado or drip coffee Something to carry that holds up over an hour of walking
Mid-walk break Shakerato Cold, fast & a little different from the usual iced coffee
After the walk Nitro Cold Brew Sit down, cool off & let the afternoon wind down
