History of Koffee Kult

The History of Koffee Kult

From a quest for better coffee in 2012 to a family-owned roastery serving coffee lovers worldwide

2012 Founded

In 2012 after drinking yet another cup of average coffee, Koffee Kult's founder began the quest for a better cup of coffee. They believed that roasting their own coffee would be the only way to get better coffee in their cup.

After a long quest of finding a coffee roaster and sourcing coffee beans, our first batch of roasted coffee dropped into the roaster cooling bin in early 2012.

Koffee Kult's first coffee roaster was a 15 kilo Ambex knock-off we named Little Blue. It roasted 18 pounds of coffee per batch. This machine now sits in the front window as a display.

Back in 2012 roasting coffee was merely a hobby. However, sharing roasted beans with friends and family sparked demand that led to Center Stage Coffee being formed.

2013 Ecommerce

As local demand grew for Center Stage Coffee beans, there was an emerging online market. The founder was not interested in selling coffee online, however the founder's mother was adamant this coffee needed to be sold on Amazon.

Reluctantly agreeing, the founder decided online sales should be sold under a different name. Koffee Kult was picked for representing our customers and their dedication to coffee.

In 2014 we added Amazon and our own KoffeeKult.com as sales channels. This created more growth than we could have imagined. Little Blue was roasting until 2am most days.

In February 2015, we acquired Big Red, a used 60 kilo Ambex coffee roaster with the ability to roast 80 pounds per batch.

2016 Big Move & New Roasters

By 2016 Koffee Kult had outgrown its former 600 sqft space. In October 2016 our current 5,100 sqft location was purchased to be Koffee Kult's main production facility.

The new building needed a complete tear-out and remodel. To keep production running, a 70 kilo Loring coffee roaster was added to the new building along with a new packing line. This led to zero downtime when we moved over in August 2017.

Today this roasting facility includes a Loring Peregrine 70 kilo and Kestrel 35 kilo coffee roasters with Roaster Dynamics sample roasters.

Our customers' favorite addition is our front retail area where you can see our roasting process while enjoying single origin espresso or coffee.

Today Koffee Kult is still a small family owned business with 14 employees in pursuit to roast the most awesome coffee we can find.

Fresh Roasted Coffee has been our mission for over 13 years.
