3 Cold Brew Recipes to Make at Home This Summer

Three glasses of cold brew coffee recipes with ice on a summer table

Three simple cold brew recipes, made with quality ingredients that let the coffee shine.

☕ By Koffee Kult · 📍 Hollywood, FL · 🕐 6 min read

Summer is cold brew season. Smooth, refreshing, and naturally less acidic than traditional iced coffee, cold brew is one of the easiest ways to enjoy specialty coffee once temperatures climb.

At Koffee Kult, we believe great coffee doesn't need complicated recipes. The best cold brew drinks start with freshly roasted beans and a small handful of quality ingredients that complement the coffee, rather than overpower it.

Whether you're after something lightly sweet, bright and citrusy, or warm with a little spice, these three recipes are simple enough to make at home while still delivering café-quality results.

Start With Great Cold Brew

The foundation of every recipe is, of course, the coffee.

For the richest flavor, use freshly roasted whole beans and grind them coarse before brewing. A typical starting ratio is 1 cup of coarse ground coffee to 4 cups of cold, filtered water. Let the mixture steep in the refrigerator for 12 to 18 hours, then strain through a fine mesh filter or cheesecloth.

If you prefer a lighter concentrate, simply dilute with cold water or milk to taste before enjoying.
12–18 hrs Ideal steep time for a smooth, low-acid cold brew concentrate

🍁Salted Maple Cold Brew

Few flavor combinations pair with coffee as naturally as maple. Add just a touch of flaky sea salt and the result is a smooth, balanced drink that enhances the coffee's chocolate and caramel notes without becoming overly sweet.

8 oz cold brew coffee
1 oz pure maple syrup
2 oz half & half (or oat milk)
Pinch flaky sea salt
Ice

Instructions

  1. Fill a glass with ice.
  2. Add the maple syrup and a small pinch of flaky sea salt.
  3. Pour in the cold brew coffee.
  4. Slowly add the half & half or oat milk.
  5. Stir gently once and serve immediately.
Flavor Notes
Rich maple sweetness, smooth creamy body, subtle caramel finish, balanced with a hint of salt.
Best Coffee Pairing
Our Dark Roast or Medium Roast, where chocolate, caramel, and toasted nut flavors naturally complement the maple.

🍊Orange Vanilla Cold Brew

Coffee and citrus have been paired together for generations, especially with coffees that naturally show bright fruit character. A touch of vanilla softens the citrus while letting the coffee stay the centerpiece.

8 oz cold brew coffee
½ oz vanilla syrup
1 strip fresh orange peel
Optional splash of cream
Ice

Instructions

  1. Fill a glass with ice.
  2. Add the vanilla syrup.
  3. Twist the orange peel over the glass to release its natural oils, then drop it into the drink.
  4. Pour in the cold brew.
  5. Add a splash of cream if desired and stir gently.
Flavor Notes
Bright orange zest, smooth vanilla, rich chocolate undertones, clean finish.
Best Coffee Pairing
Our Guatemala Huehuetenango, Medium Roast, or Brazil Cerrado, all of which feature chocolate and citrus-friendly profiles.

🍯Honey Cinnamon Cold Brew

Simple ingredients often make the best coffee drinks. Honey brings natural sweetness while cinnamon adds gentle warmth without masking the coffee's character.

8 oz cold brew coffee
1 tbsp honey
Dash ground cinnamon
2 oz whole milk or oat milk
Ice

Instructions

  1. Stir the honey with a small splash of warm water until fully dissolved.
  2. Fill a glass with ice.
  3. Pour in the cold brew coffee.
  4. Add the honey mixture and stir well.
  5. Top with milk.
  6. Finish with a light dusting of cinnamon.
Flavor Notes
Natural honey sweetness, warm cinnamon spice, creamy finish, smooth balanced body.
Best Coffee Pairing
Our Dark Roast, Mr. Cooper's Blend, and Road Dog Blend all bring out the warm spice and chocolate notes here.

The goal isn't to hide the coffee. It's to highlight it.

Tips For Better Cold Brew At Home

A few small adjustments can make a noticeable difference in your final cup.

Use Freshly Roasted Coffee
Fresh coffee delivers brighter aromatics, deeper sweetness, and a cleaner finish than beans that have sat on a shelf for months.
Grind Coarse
A coarse grind prevents over-extraction and keeps your cold brew tasting smooth rather than bitter.
Filtered Water Matters
Since coffee is mostly water, filtered water helps produce a cleaner, sweeter cup.
Good For
Starting with less sweetener than you think you need & adjusting from there. Brewing ahead: cold brew keeps well in the refrigerator for up to a week, perfect for meal prep or busy mornings.
Keep In Mind
Over-sweetening masks the coffee's natural character instead of highlighting it. Start light & build up to taste.

Which Coffee Makes The Best Cold Brew?

Nearly any specialty coffee can be brewed cold, but some naturally excel.

Coffee Flavor Profile Best For
Dark Roast Rich, chocolate-forward Bold, dessert-like cold brew
Medium Roast Toasted nut, milk chocolate Smooth, balanced cold brew
Guatemala Huehuetenango Bright citrus & caramel Fruit-forward summer cold brew
