Oatmeal can be one of the most boring breakfast ideas ever. You know that plain stuff sprinkled with sugar or a little salt, just looking sad in the bowl. But not this chocolate coffee oatmeal! This is packed with flavor, buzzing with caffeine and pairs perfectly with your morning cup of coffee. Like you really need an excuse to eat chocolate in the morning?
To make these oats, you will need oats, chia seeds, freshly brewed Koffee Kult coffee, cocoa powder, milk and your sweetener of choice. You will want to make you coffee first then use the coffee just like you would water when making oatmeal.
We added some chia seeds to help the oatmeal be a little more filling and full of some added vitamins and minerals. You know that coffee has some amazing antioxidant properties, as does cocoa powder. So this breakfast is actually a great way to start your day on the right foot!
Chocolate Coffee Oatmeal Recipe
1/4 cup old fashion or rolled oats
1 tbs. chia seeds
3/4 cup freshly brewed coffe
2 tbs. unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tbs. milk of choice
1-2 packets sweetener of choice or 1-2 tbs. maple syrup
Add the oats and chia seeds to a microwave safe bowl. Pour hot coffee over oats and stir quickly. Let sit 2 minutes.
Place oats in the microwave for 2 minutes.
Carefully remove oats from microwave and add cocoa powder, milk and sweetener of choice. Stir well.
Enjoy with toppings of choice.
